WEN 61782 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer with Magnesium Housing Review
While it is typically difficult to find a good roofing nailer for under $150, WEN has actually produced one that retails for less than $100. The WEN 61782 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer has many of the same features as the higher priced models, including 120-nail capacity, magnesium body and a quick-release for clearing jams. In addition, the unit accommodates nails ranging in length from seven-eighths of an inch to one and three-quarters of an inch. The WEN nailer has an adjustable exhaust along with tool-free depth control adjustment. Additional features include no nail trip lockout and contact trip operation, making this an ideal tool for asphalt shingles, waterproof tarpaper, siding and fiber cement roofing. Keep in mind that this nailer does not come with couplers. They must be purchased separately.

Wen 617827 Coil Roofing Nailer Reviews:
With equal amounts of four and five-star ratings, the WEN 61782 received an overall rating of four out of five stars. The majority of reviewers were pleased with its performance, especially for the price. The reviewers who did give this nailer a high score were all do-it-yourselfers and several even stated that this nailer would not stand up to heavy-duty use, so it is definitely not for roofing professionals who will be using it all day, every day.
Two reviewers pointed out that for the same price as renting a nailer for two days, they was able to purchase this unit and complete their projects. One of these reviewers also stated he was able to find compatible nail magazines at a local big box store for a good price.
Another happy user stated it was stiff at the beginning, but quickly loosened up as he shingled his garage. He added that he used air gun oil regularly and has had no problems with the nailer. Many reviewers also remarked about how light the WEN 61782 was.
Surprisingly, there was only one one-star review. This reviewer stated that the nailer was prone to misfiring, adding that it misfired while attaching it to the compressor. She added that the tool blew apart after a few weeks and that the top piece hit her in the face. She cautioned people against buying this nailer because of the safety concerns.
It is important to research this product, as well as comparable models, before making a purchase. Make sure the models being considered can handle the job at hand and check out the reviews for any safety concerns. While the issues mentioned by the one unhappy reviewer warrant consideration, the majority of users were very happy with this product and did not raise any safety concerns or malfunctioning issues. Be sure to use the proper safety gear, read the manual completely before attempting to operate the WEN 61782, oil the nailer regularly and stop the tool immediately if any problems arise.
